Dr. Craig Rotter ’92 embodies the Aggie Spirit through a remarkable journey marked by deep commitment, leadership, and a relentless pursuit of a better world. His stories, coming from the small town of Poth (rhymes with “both”) in Wilson County, serve as a reminder that smooth seas never make great sailors. It’s often the rough rides, sometimes alone, that create the adventures that make us who we are.

Initially venturing into the world of retail banking at Frost Bank, Dr. Rotter discovered his true callings within the halls of Texas A&M University, earning four degrees at his alma mater. For 17 impactful years, he dedicated himself to student affairs, within the Department of Residence Life. Here, he championed undergraduate leadership, community development, and academic success, leaving an enduring mark on countless Aggies, staff members, and dear friends.

Dr. Rotter’s passion for education extended to the classroom, where he shared his wisdom
in leadership education courses, like those for the Leadership Living Learning Community (L3C). With over two decades of teaching experience, he earned the respect of both peers and students, s

haping the leaders of tomorrow, continuing to do so today.

In 2018, Dr. Rotter took on a new challenge as the Executive Director for the Texas Rural Leadership Program (TRLP). This initiative within Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service,
reflects his commitment to fostering positive change and inclusivity in rural and marginalized communities. He leads efforts to nurture strong leaders capable of driving lasting transformation, especially where resources are lacking.

Beyond his work life, Dr. Rotter plays pivotal roles in organizations dedicated to progress.
He serves on the Texas A&M University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Development Council (COADC), channeling resources to support the college and student scholarships. His dedication to rural public-school education is evident in his work on the Board of Directors of Collegiate Edu-Nation (P-20 Modeling), offering hope to rural students through a paradigm shift in rural school districts. As a member of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio River Foundation, he contributes to environmental, artistic, and community education projects.

Dr. Craig Rotter’s legacy is one of unwavering dedication and commitment to creating
a more equitable society through education and positive change. With Aggie pride in his heart, he continues to inspire and uplift, ensuring his university’s values shine in every endeavor.

Dr. Craig Rotter’s journeys are a testament to leadership, commitment, and a deep belief
in the potential of individuals and communities. Landing on your feet repeatedly is not easy,
but the adventures are well worth a continuing push. He hopes your life’s impact on the world
is profound at many levels as he is honored to spend time with you on this year’s Aggie
